Recreational Vehicle Park at North Carolina State Fairgrounds
The Recreational Vehicle Park at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds located at Raleigh North Carolina was a real find. Located close to the downtown Raleigh area (and routes 40 & 440) provides a convenient base for exploring the great Raleigh area.
We made reservations at the Four Oaks RV resort as they were the closest RV park to the Raleigh area (but not so close at all at over 50 miles southeast of Raleigh). We could not make it to the park due to weather and the manager refused to discuss a possible credit for a later date (note to manager: a return phone call would have been greatly appreciated).
We adjusted, calling the RV park at NCSF to determine availability. The gentleman who answered the phone advised that many sites were available so we made the drive to the campground – and we are glad we called an chose a different campground.
While the park provides no amenities it provides an easy entry to the park and a good convenient base to explore. Level sites are available throughout the park, and while no paved sites are available, leveling the bus was not a problem. I have read that the park has ~350 sites, I just don’t know where they are located – so I would not trust that number. The RV park offers full hookups but and strong wi-fi. No cable – allowing for more time to discover Raleigh. The campground does not take reservations but a phone call to the park will provide current availability.
Should you be in the Raleigh area, you might consider staying at the RV park at the fairgrounds for an easy to access, easy-park campground.
The RV Park at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds was a great find close to Raleigh North Carolina. We stayed three nights at this no-frills & great campground.
